How to configure FTP client for explicit FTP over TLS?

FileZilla

 Some highly protected FTP servers do not accept plain text connections. In this case you need to establish an explicit FTP over TLS connection. If you are using Filezilla as FTP client then you need to follow below given steps:

-Open Filezilla and go to File menu

-Select Site Manager

-Choose the option New Site

-Provide your host name and port number in the given fields

-Select the protocol FTP

-There will be an option for Encryption

-Select the drop down and choose the option Require explicit FTP over TLS

-Select the logon type as Normal

-Enter your username and password in the respective fields

-Save the settings for this site

This FTP client is now ready to connect to server with explicit FTP over TLS.

CuteFTP

If you are using CuteFTP then you need to follow below given steps to enable explicit FTP over TLS connection.

-Go to File menu

-Select New FTP(SSL) site

-Select General tab

-Enter the label name for this site

-Provide your hostname, username and password also in the respective fields

-Select the option Login Method as Normal

-Now select second tab named as Type

-Here it will show the option of Protocol Type

-Select the option FTP with TLS/SSL (AUTH TLS-Explicit)

-Select server type as Auto detect

-Select the data connection type as Use global settings

-Select the transfer type as Use global settings

-Choose the respective server time zone

-You are now ready to connect

Now you are done with the settings of Explicit FTP using CuteFTP file client.
